Acquaintance with Islah Daily in detail:

For the first time The Islah Daily began its publication in Dalw 29th of 1300 solar year that is coinciding with February 18th, 1921.

Its Editor in-Chief was Mohammad Bashir and began its publication in Khanabad city.

After issuance of No. 16th Mohammad Bashir was replaced by Hafez Faiz Mohammad.

Within first period, this daily was published in one page on a narrow cream-colored paper as lithography in printing house of Khanabad.

Editorial, domestic, foreign issues, literatures, the issues keep audience busy and scientific articles were publishing in this daily.

On the top of page 1st of The Islah Daily this poem was attracting the attention of audience:

It is the time that all of us didicate ourselves and work more for reconstruction of our homeland.

In that period, in The Islah Daily more news and scientific issues were quoting from Aman-i-Afghan newspaper.

The Islah Daily was not published for long in Khanabad.

Its second period began in Paktia and third period in Kabul.

The first issue of The Islah Daily introduces its aim as follows:

1-    Publishing of domestic issues

2-    Publishing of foreign issues

3-    The knowhow of services rendering by government employees and residential people of that province.

4-    Dissemination of knowledge

5-    Commerce, agriculture, industry and craft.

Although the complete issues of Islah weekly are not available but some witnesses indicate that publication of Islah Daily was continuing within Amani period. Because, with the collapse and overthrowing of kingdom of His Majesty Amanullah Khan and taking the throne by Amir Habibullah Kalakani, the names of a number of publications were changed.

One of such publications was Islah daily that was publishing in the name of “Nuhzatul-Habib”.

Late Maulawi Burhanuddin Kushkaki due to a commendation in the newspaper of “ Habib-as Salam gave information in the connection: “Nuhzat-ul-Habib was the first newspaper that was publishing once in a week in Khanabad by a wise man Manulawi Mohammad Bashir Khan in a suitable size and healthy principles in four pages.

In connection with its contents, Late-Kushkaki wrote: I read seven issues of daily. All were about the means and reasons of revolution and well-complicated and expressed his sincerity in regard with central Islamic government and also criticized necessarily.

With the collapse of Amir Habibullah Kalakani, first Nuhzat-ul-Habib changed its name as “Ittehad-i-Khanabad” and then in the name of “Ittehad Baghlan” that is continuing till date.

On the other, Nader Khan that who was the founder of Islah, with the same specifications was published in Tuesday Assad 14, 1308 solar year that was coincided with the first of Rabi-ul-Awwal 1329 HQ in Alikhel district of Jaji.

Its Editor in-Chief was Mohammad Nauroze Khan.

After 13th issue, The Islah periodical second round (Jaddi 17th 1308) former editor of Ittehad-i-Mashreqi periodical, Mohammad Amin Khogiani was appointed as editor and Editor in-Chief of Islah.

After 15th issue (Dalw 3rd 1308) The Islah was publishing twice weekly. After this issue, the periodical began criticism and majority of reformatory issues were publishing in it.

From the first issue of second year (Assad 18th, 1309) the Islah periodical was published at the form of magazine in 8 pages and then in 12 pages.

Islah was published at the form of magazine till the beginning of third year (Assad 14, 1310).

From 57th issue, Islah was published by Burhannuddin Kushkaki as editor.

When Burhanuddin Kushkaki was editor of Islah, the periodical Islah was changed into daily.

From this date, Islah was publishing in two pages daily with big size.

In this period, Islah published with colorful and serious issues qualitatively from social and reformatory points of view.

Another work that took place in 1317 was enlarging of its size in world standard.

The articles were standardized according to new journalism and its principles criteria and special column was allotted for every article considering its essence.

In 1318, Islah daily was illustrated. The political issues were published on a fresh style for its audience.

In its foot-articles short stories, amusement local and critical issues were publishing in the framework of literature.

The news were issuing in a column in Dari and in opposed of it in Pashtu.

For the first time information was given  about temperature of weather in capital and provinces as well as the pharmacies were tasked to be opened in the night.

In 1319 Burhanuddin Kushkaki was replaced by Abdurrahman Pazhwak as editor in-Chief of Islah daily.

Within the tenure of Abdurrahman Pazhwak, Islah daily followed beauty and colorfulness clichés and good former binding.

In upper part of the page of daily in both sides of its title, a series of compendicuses and important titles were publishing.

Much attention has been paid in the issues published in Pashtu language.

At the same year, (Assad 13, 1319), the size of the daily became smaller sans any pre-information and editor in-Chief of the daily, Abdurrahman Pazhwak apologized in editorial of the same issue such as: “within one year and few months that the flame of war is aflaming in the West, those countries and nations are far from war front were also not remained safe from its effect.

The Islah daily compelled the load burdened by the world press, be taken by it.

However, our daily became smaller but as it was possible the smalling of letters and the articles that we wanted to be published were prevented in some extent.

In Saratan 10th of 1320, Abdurrahman Pazhwak was replaced by Mohammad Qadir Taraki as Editor in-Chief of Islah daily.

So far, the impacts of world war was overshadowing on all press of the world, it made limited the journalist activities in all remotest and nearer countries.

Lack of press material, etc made problematic the work of journalists.

The Islah daily was also passing its hard days. No improvement and development has been occurred in it. Even from its Jaddi 23rd issue of 1320. The Islah daily with its small binding was publishing in two pages instead of four ones.

In connection with it, Mohammad Qadir Taraki in editorial of Islah wrote: “As the bad effect of this destructive war affected in all dimensions of international life, it also affects, as much as now, the press of all countries even developed nations that had their own paper manufacturing factories and other press materials were reduced many fold.

The last of our resort is this to reduce its pages and instead of four pages beginning from this issue, the daily published in two pages”.

Since that time, The Islah Daily was publishing in two pages and in its limited columns, sans harassing war events and invention of dreadful weapons and murdering and looting of fighters, colonialists or few advertisements and two or three domestic news, nothing were publishing.

After Mizan 16th 1324, the world situation was getting improvement and the hurdles created in the way of world trade were removed slowly and once more, The Islah Daily was published in larger binding and in four pages.

Political, economic, agricultural issues and inventions and developments were published comprehensively and in a large extent.

In Jadi 28, 1328 Mohammad Muhsen Feroz was appointed as Editor in-Chief of Islah Daily.

In this period too, the staff of Islah made effort with keeping the former policy to improve the situation of the daily.

Courageous columns were created for training of the youths who were exercising the profession of writing and larger part of newspaper were occupied by the articles were quoted and translated from foreign resources.

After issue of 24th of Saur, 1329, the news of page 1st of Islah daily were publishing in Dari and Pashtu languages. It was changed into Pashto language and in Saur 9th, 1330, all advertisements were published in Pashto language.

In jauza 9th, 1330, the related affairs of Islah Daily were submitted to Abdul Sabour Khan Nasimi.

In his first editorial, Nasimi writes: “In the series of thousands of means and social measures that were reflected or are reflecting, in my opinion, strengthening of basis of unity and national cohesion is more useful and logic.

Every measure and act that disturbs national unity and take the society towards scattered one is more sinful than all.

In Hamal 19, 1332, the responsibility of Islah daily was shouldered by Qiamuddin Khadem.

To keep the steadfastness of the daily, he made much effort.

Mostly, the editorials were publishing in Pashto language and the objective informations were publishing more in the daily.

In Saur 1st of 1333, this daily changed into a limited institution and Mohammad Alam Ghawas was appointed as its Editor in-Chief.

In Aqrab 4, 1335, Mohammad Ibrahim Safa was appointed as Editor in-Chief of Islah Daily.

In first phase of his tenure, he transferred the editorial of the daily from first page to the second page of first column and new column under the title of “You and your Knowledge” was opened.

In Sunbula 29, 1336 Mohammad Ibrahim Abbasi published his editorial in Pashto language.

He made effort to concentrate the staff to rescue the daily from bookish style and change it into a real newspaper, he succeeded in his ordeal.

In this period, all articles of Islah were translating from foreign resources.

Additionally, pictorial reports were publishing in it.

Likewise, special prominance were seen in Islah Daily.

In the period of Musa Shafiq, the last prime minister of “decade of democracy” The Islah Daily was contracted with Anis Daily in 1352 and under the name of Islah Anis continued to its publications. But with taking power by People’s Democratic Party, the Publication of Islah Anis was stopped and sans prefix of Islah, the Anis daily continued to its publication.

After pause of period of 24 years, Islah was published in 1381. This period is the fourth period of the daily.

Mohammad Wali Zalmai shouldered the fourth responsibility of its publication as the first Editor in-chief of fourth period in 1381.

After Wali Zalmai Dr. Shamsul Haq Arianfar, Tourialai Zazai and Mohammad Zaman Kulmani were appointed as Editor in-Chiefs of Islah daily respectively.

Now, The Islah Daily is publishing under the Editor in-Chief of Dad Mohammad Onabi and secretariat of Najibullah Payenda under the supervision of General presidency of Government Dailies led by Dr. Shamsulhaq Arianfar in the framework of Ministry of Information and culture.

Since recent two years, the new leading body of Islah Daily made much effort to bear necessary changes  in form and content of the daily that is made in large extent.

The form and content of Islah daily get improved more.

Within recent one, two years the Islah Daily made effort instead of information issues to publish hot political, social and economic issues so that to aware its audience about daily hot issues.

This daily made much effort to defend from the righteous stance of government before armed international terrorist opponents and in the framework of policies of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and support from national interests to continue to its publications.
